Searching for Beta-Readers

Blank Pages

Black ink as thick as blood

dip this quill, put the point to parchment

scrawling lines, vines across the page

letters collide, birthing words

bringing imagination to life.

The story unfolds, rises from the sheet

a growing, manifesting tree

its branches the plot

leafing images in the mind

telling a story never told.

Oh! Who would read these stories?

Who would delve into my dreams?

The plotted course is set,

but this ship needs a crew,

how we get there is up to you.

If you've read this far, I'd like to thank you...writing can be like a line in the sand. Curiosity draws people along its length until the mystery of where it leads is revealed. Others step across it with no thought of it at all.

Here's where my request becomes specific. I am looking for a handful of people that would like to follow that mysterious line in the sand to find out what's at the other end. What do I mean? What I need is a few beta readers...people that love to read and would like to be the first to get their hands on a copy of my manuscripts before they are published.

What does a beta reader do? A beta reader gives the author feedback concerning things within the book that might be an issue or problem. An example would be an obvious plot hole or inadvertent contradiction. Don’t be concerned if you don’t think you’d qualify for such a position because you only must have one qualification to be a beta reader—you must love to read. That’s it!

So, if being a beta reader seems like it might interest you, please sign up for my mailing list on my website and then shoot me a message saying, “Beta Reader.” In the near future, I’ll be posting a more permanent page on my website with additional details. My only objective right now is to start building a list of potential beta readers so please, if this interest you at all, head on over to my website and let me know.
